Gareth Southgate reveals Chelsea man has injury and will miss prestige friendly against Brazil
Gareth Southgate is taking a press conference ahead of England’s two friendlies this week, and wouldn’t you know it… there’s an injury to a Chelsea player to discuss.
The England coach said that tomorrow’s game against Brazil would have “no Cole Palmer,” but that the rising star would have “a better chance of [playing] Belgium,” England’s opposition on Tuesday.
Gareth Southgate’s squad update ahead of England v Brazil: “Tomorrow no Harry Kane, no Jordan Henderson, no Cole Palmer. I would say Cole & Hendo have a better chance of Belgium than Harry. He’d be extremely doubtful for that”

To be fair, he didn’t specifically say he was injured, and there’s a slim chance that it’s just a case of giving him this game off after playing so many matches since the turn of the year, but in reality it sounds far more like he’s just got a small knock.
Palmer will be desperate for another senior England cap, so this is not news he will be celebrating. However there will be plenty of Blues fans relieved that their star boy isn’t going to feature for 180 minutes in this international fortnight.
