“Neither are at the same level as Ramsdale” – Former Tottenham player criticises Chelsea’s goalkeepers

Former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that Aaron Ramsdale would take Chelsea to the “next level.”

Despite signing Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez last summer that hasn’t stopped the Blues being linked with a move for Ramsdale.

Ramsdale lost his position as Arsenal’s number one with Mikel Arteta deciding David Raya would be a better option for his side.

The former Bournemouth stopper has been limited to just 11 appearances this season in what could be his last campaign at The Emirates.

Despite Chelsea’s struggles this season goalkeeper isn’t seen as a position that needs strengthening this summer.

Sanchez has been underwhelming since his arrival from Brighton but Petrovic has been superb since coming  into the side in December and has made the number one position his own.

However, Robison believes that both Chelsea’s goalkeepers aren’t good enough to take the club to the next level and cites the England international as the man who could.

Speaking to Football Insider he said: “Ramsdale deserves to be playing football and I think he would be a great fit at Chelsea.”

“The Chelsea fans would love him there.”

“He could play for any of the top sides in the country.”

“Neither Sanchez nor Petrovic are good enough to take them to the next level, neither are at the same level as Ramsdale.”

“Whoever gets him will have a goalkeeper who is hungry and can prove he is capable of playing for England again.”
