NTC Updates CPD Points and License Renewal Process

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has provided important updates regarding the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points system and license renewal process for teachers.

These changes aim to streamline the requirements and facilitate timely license renewals.

1. License Renewal for Expired Licenses: The NTC has introduced a special provision for teachers with already expired licenses.

Regardless of the accumulated CPD points, these licenses will be eligible for renewal in May 2024.

2. Reduction of Points and Yearly Renewal: The points required for license renewal have been reduced to 20 points for all ranks.

Additionally, licenses will now be renewed on an annual basis.

Teachers who possess more than 20 points will carry forward the excess points to the following year(s).

3. Mandatory Points: Teachers must accumulate 4 points per term, resulting in a total of 12 points per year.

These mandatory points can be earned through Participatory Learning Committees (PLCs) – 2 points, and the National CPD day – 2 points.

4. Targeted and Special Training: Accredited NTC service providers will offer targeted and special training, which will contribute 2 points per training session.

Teachers should participate in this training twice a year, accumulating a total of 4 points.

5. Recommended Training: The District Central Administration will provide recommended training sessions worth 2 points each.

Teachers are required to attend two of these trainings, resulting in a total of 4 points.

Teachers are therefore urged to stay informed and actively participate in CPD activities to earn the necessary points for license renewal.
