Star has contract until 2030 – transfer rumours can be ignored

Cole Palmer has done so well for Chelsea this season after signing on deadline day that there has already been talk about giving him a new contract.

That was in itself pretty fantastical – our new owners didn’t slash the wage bill just to hand out instant raises for anyone who does well. But the latest update to the story is even more unlikely.

Today Football Insider reports that “top clubs” in England and “European giants” are ready to pursue Palmer for a transfer at the end of the season. It sounds incredibly unlikely.

Palmer may well push to leave a few years down the line if the Blues continue to hover in mid table. But for now he’s playing every week, he’s the star of the show and he’s getting everything he didn’t at Man City.

Besides, what could any team offer to make us sell our star player? No matter how well Cole does, he’s not going anywhere for a while.
