Meet Kwame Mensah, the headmaster who swims to school to teach

Despite all the obvious difficulties, Kwame Mensah, a 36-year-old teacher, continues to work with pupils in outlying locations.

The fact that he is the head teacher of Lonpe MA Primary School, however, makes the strain much higher.
He had a very long way to go if he wanted to arrive at school on time.

How he gets to school when his mode of transportation isn’t working, like when his motorcycle breaks down, is a fascinating topic, though.

He had to wade over a river even after a generous stranger who was returning from the hospital with his wife gave him a 9-kilometer ride

This situation is made more worse by these difficulties, inadequate infrastructure, a shortage of furnishings, and a lack of textbooks.

After graduating from college in 2009, Kwame became involved with rural schools. He has since moved from one school to another, admitting that teaching in these settings is both dangerous and frustrating.

“I have to swim across this river every day to get to my school, so teaching in rural areas is not an easy task. My relatives are quite concerned.” He relates

“I have to teach every subject from basic one to six, and this is demanding. The students are at a great disadvantage.”
