The signs all point to a debut for latest Chelsea academy prodigy

Chelsea fans are getting all excited not about a player who did play, but about a player who didn’t play.

Tyrique George is bubbling up as perhaps the most vaunted teenage talent in the academy right now, with a couple of wondergoals putting him on the radar of most Blues fans, even those who aren’t week to week academy watchers.

He’s flitted between the under 21 and under 18 squads this season, but over the course of this weekend he wasn’t in either squad. The under 21s played yesterday, and the 18s today with no George present. There’s no talk of an injury.

That has got some fans very excited that we might see a first team bow this week. He’s been training with Mauricio Pochettino and the rest of the senior squad as injuries take their toll, and he may well have caught their eye.

We won’t get ahead of ourselves, but things do seem to be lining up nicely…
