Top Real Madrid wonderkid’s “parents visited Cobham” but Chelsea couldn’t persuade him

There are two things football fans love talking about – transfers that may happen, and transfers that didn’t happen.

In the case of future Real Madrid superstar Endrick, it’s the latter for Chelsea. While we did manage to pick up some exceptional teenage South American talent in the form of Kendry Paez, it’s pretty much impossible to compete with Madrid when they really want a player.

The young striker’s agent Pena revealed how close the Blues were to securing the wonderkid, before the inevitable and irresistible Blancos swooped in to steal him away.

“I think Real decided that they were never going to miss another talent like Vini or Endrick after Neymar moved to Barcelona. Maybe there is a lesson for Chelsea because they were in front at the start.

The boy’s parents visited Cobham and were impressed, but Chelsea were worried about the fee and then when Real came in and were prepared to pay what Palmeiras wanted, it became almost impossible for them.”

Oh well, you win some and you lose some. There are plenty of more fish in the sea, and plenty more Brazilian wonderkids in Brazil, as our transfer policy of the last two years has shown.

Will Angelo Gabriel, Andrey Santos or Deivid Washington turn out as good as Endrick? We can’t wait to find out.
