€120m buyout clause must put Chelsea at the back of the queue for elite forward
It’s getting close to crunch time for Victor Osimhen.
We’ve been writing for a long time about a potential move to Chelsea, and whether it happens or not, it feels like we’re going to know within a few months.
At the moment, it feels like a long shot, certainly compared to a year or two ago where we felt like favourites.
The striker is going to be leaving Napoli, and has a release clause of something in the region of €120m. Transfer insider Rudy Galetti has reported that Chelsea are willing to pay that, but we’re struggling to see how that’s possible.
🚨🎯 Victor #Osimhen is always a main target for #Chelsea to strenghten the attack: an agreement with the player would not be a problem, as he would like to join #CFC.

Given our financial situation, sales are going to be necessary just to stay ahead of FFP and PSR rules. How on earth can we expect to spend €120m on top of that and still comply? And that’s before you even consider Osimhen’s potentially vast wages. No matter what “payment terms” we negotiate, it’s hard to make the numbers fit.
We will be watching with interest to see who else gets involved, but right our financial woes feel like they must put us quite far back in the race.
