“We need to improve a little bit” – Cucurella on Chelsea

Marc Cucurella believes Chelsea still need to improve and cited the goals conceded against Newcastle.

The 25 year old played the full 90 minutes on Monday night in his first appearance of the year following three months out with an ankle injury.

Cucurella’s return to fitness is a timely boost for Mauricio Pochettino with both Levi Colwill and Ben Chilwell set for spells on the sidelines.

It’s been a tough road back with the Spaniard admitting it hasn’t been easy but he’s now delighted to be able to help the team again.

Despite marking his return to the side with a win Cucurella is under no illusion that the Blues still need to improve over the remainder of the season.

Speaking to the club’s official website he said: “We need to improve a little bit. A few times we have conceded easy goals, but I think it’s part of the game.”

“We need to work hard, continue at this level and if we stay together and focus then we can compete with a lot of teams. Between now and the end of the season, we need to improve a little bit, get a lot of wins and get higher up in the table.”

“We have a lot of energy and are focused on this game against Leicester. We have a big chance to play again at Wembley for the second time this season and I think it’s very important for us.”

“We will try to do our best and the win against Newcastle is important because it will build our confidence to play the game on Sunday. The team is ready.”
