Ghana sent scout to watch Mali friendly games ahead of 2026 World Cup qualifiers clash in June

Ghana kept an eye on Mali during the March international break after sending scout to monitor their games against Mauritania and Nigeria.

The Black Stars faces Mali in a crunch 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June, followed by another significant match against the Central African Republic back home three days later.

Mali exceled during the international break after recording victories in all games. The West African outfit defeated Mauritania 2-0 before inflicting another 2-0 win over 2023 AFCON finalist, Nigeria.

But the Black Stars failed to glitter against Nigeria and Uganda respectively. The four-time champions from Africa succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to the Super Eagles before playing out a 2-2 draw against the Cranes of Uganda last Tuesday.

It is important to note that, Ghana sent scout to watch Mali in their games against Mauritania and Nigeria. The move was to help coach Otto Addo get a fair idea about their opponent ahead of the qualifiers in June.

With just three points from two matches, one win and one loss, Ghana currently occupies fourth place in Group I.

Mali, on the other hand, occupies the 2nd spot with four points, just behind the group leaders Comoros. With Comoros, Central African Republic, Madagascar, and Chad also vying for qualification, the competition remains fierce.
