“Immense talent” – Pundit praises Chelsea star

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has described Cole Palmer as an “immense talent.”

Palmer is enjoying a superb season following his summer move from Manchester City.

The 21 year old has scored 13 goals in all competitions with 11 of those coming in the Premier League and has also registered 11 assists with eight coming in the league.

The England international has quickly established himself as a key player and has been used predominantly as a right winger by Mauricio Pochettino but has also played centrally and as a false nine.

Keown has been really impressed with what he has seen from the former City man and said he prefers Palmer as a right winger.

He told the Daily Mail: “Watching him for Chelsea, you can see why he insisted he was ready.”

“This 21 year old is an immense talent. He is cool, classy and measured, with a little maverick in him, and determined to prove why he deserves to represent England at Euro 2024.”

“Phil Foden was patient enough to wait but Palmer wanted to be fast tracked and for all those at City who nurtured him, it will be tough seeing him strutting his stuff in a Chelsea shirt.”

“He has been used in a variety of positions but the right wing is where he is most destructive, moving inside on to his left foot to open up the pitch while the overlapping Malo Gusto flies down the flank in support.”

“Opposition full backs can try to force Palmer down the line but much like the best inverted wingers, he will often find his way inside.”

Pochettino will be hoping Palmer can once again inspire the Blues in tomorrow’s FA Cup quarter final against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea aim to book their return to Wembley.
